How to make a vegan, gluten-free chocolate mug cake

The three simple ingredients are 1) avocado oil or melted coconut oil, 2) vanilla extract, and 3) our Cupcake + Chocolate Cake Mix. Stir them with water in your favorite mug.

Add chocolate chips if you like. They are optional, but they add richness and melty goodness. After that, please place it in the microwave for one minute.

The speed of cooking in microwaves can vary, so be sure to check your cake after one minute and add some extra time as needed! When the center of your mug cake feels and looks set, you know it’s done. It’s now time to add vanilla syrup with shaved chocolate, dark chocolate, or hot chocolate.

Ingredients

Instructions

To a 10-oz. Add the Minimalist Baker Cupcake + Chocolate Cake Mix to a 10-oz. Stir well with a fork. Add chocolate chips to the mixture for extra richness.

If the center does not set, microwave for another 15 seconds. (It could take as long as 1 minute 30 seconds if you are using a weaker microwave). Let the cake cool down for 3-5 minutes before eating. The best way to enjoy this mug cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is warm.

Fresh is best. The cake will become hard after cooling down because of the microwave.
