In less than 30 minutes, you can make the best comfort food. It’s hard to beat!
We need quick and easy food to get through the sleepless nights that we anticipate with our new puppy. It’s a bonus if you can cook everything in one skillet.
This is exactly what it is. This is a skillet dish that uses your favorite ravioli, crumbled Italian Sausage, a homemade marinara using crushed tomatoes, and, of course, crusty mozzarella cheese on top. It’s guaranteed to be a family favorite, and leftovers are even better!
Ingredients
- Olive oil one tablespoon
- 1 pound spicy Italian Sausage, casing removed
- Fire-roasted diced tomatoes (14.5-ounce can)
- 8-ounce can of tomato sauce
- One tablespoon of tomato paste
- Use two teaspoons of Italian seasoning
- One teaspoon of garlic powder
- One teaspoon of onion powder
- To taste, add Kosher Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper
- One (16-ounce package) of cheese-filled ravioli
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Half a cup of grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1/4 cup chiffonade basil leaves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to broil.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Add Italian Sausage to a large skillet and heat until it is browned. This should take about 3 minutes. Crumble the Sausage while cooking. Drain excess fat.
- Add tomatoes, tomato sauce or tomato paste, Italian seasonings, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season to taste. Stir in ravioli with 1 1/2 cups of water. Bring to a rolling boil, cover, reduce the heat, and simmer for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and top with Parmesan and mozzarella. Place in oven and bake until golden brown and melted approximately 2-4 minutes.
- Serve immediately with basil garnish, if desired.
